Muskox density and distribution within Canada's Northwest Territories
Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) population have fluctuated across Canada's north for millennia. However, the number of these ice-aged mammals present across the Northwest Territories (NWT) is in some areas unknown, and in other areas appears to be rapidly changing.
This project aims to conduct surveys and collaborate with communities to better understand the current, and past, number of muskox within NWT. Changes to their distribution, and why these changes may be occurring, are also investigated. Together, we gather information to better predict how muskox may respond to anticipated northern change.
